Ganesh's Daughter
According to the Hindu tradition Ganesh was doomed to spend the rest of his life with an elephant's head and a broken tusk. It is not known whether he had a daughter or not but I decide to create one, presenting a subtle more attractive version of the fat, sweaty character. The trunk was made of foam-latex which was squeezed into a three-piece plaster mould, the ears and the tusks were made of Scalpy, a sculpting material which bakes and hardens in the oven. The Sari Natalie is wearing is a real traditional one, which I borrowed from Kitu at college, who was kind enough to help me dress Natalie in it and lent me some authentic Indian jewellery. As you can see the headpiece and props were created with some imagination out of ordinary objects found in every household.
